Latest iPhone 5 rumours round-up

Heck, we're gettin' really excited for the iPhone launch coming in a fews days! For those who haven't found out yet, Apple officially sent out invitations to various media organizations on Tuesday saying, 'Let's talk iPhone'. Apple fanboys and girls all around the world are getting ready to be awed once more at the yearly release. In the past, Apple has used its invitation to include cryptic hints as to what it will announce. The phrase on this year's invite, 'Let's talk iPhone,' may be a simple play on words, but may also refer to new speech-based features for the iPhone. Last year, Apple acquired voice-recognition application startup 'Siri' and added some voice-to-text features to iOS 4, so an enhancement to those features wouldn't be too surprising. Also it's rumoured that the new iPhone won't be sporting the required hardware to enable it on the blazing-fast 4G LTE network. Instead you'll probably see something

Mobile users in India now only allowed to send 100 text per day

Telecoms regulators in India have now put a 100 text message a day cap on all mobile phone users. According to BBC news, millions of mobile phone users in India have been experiencing dozens of unsolicited text messages and phone calls from marketing firms daily -- some, even as late as 3 A.M. Officials there have recently tried combating this problem by heavily fining marketing firms that violated the "National do not call" list. It deemed unsuccessful because it only increased the amount of text messages sent. Now that text messages are being regulated by the service provider, this problem is expected to be curved for good.

Windows 7.5 Mango update begins rolling out

Microsoft promised just a few days back that the Windows Phone 7.5 update (otherwise known as “Mango”, because updates need funny little names now) would roll out “sometime in the next week or two” — and sure enough, said roll out has just begun. As for who it’s rolling out to… that’s still a bit of a mystery.

It's official. Apple has announced (with the very simple invite picture from above) to the media that the big unveiling will take place at Apple's Cupertino headquarters starting October 4th 2011 10 A.M. PT for the first time. Steve Jobs won't be there, but a new iPhone will: the invitation reads 'Let's talk iPhone'.

Top 5 places where largest internet sites got started

It's cool to know that many of the internet sites that you often visit everyday were created in simple spaces like a dorm room, garage, bed room or a small home office. This week, we did a little digging on the internet and here is a look at our Top 5 picks: #1 Facebook Founder: Mark Zuckerberg Location of birth: Dorm room The idea and development of Facebook started in this dorm room. Initially Mark's appetite for hacking into Harvard's University school system and acquiring pictures of students to construct a "hot or not" site got him into a heap of trouble. The incident (which harvard later dropped charges) helped create the largest social site we see today.

A little bit confused? Here's a walkthrough on the new Facebook layout (video)

The largest buzz over the web right now is the new Facebook layout that has been recently implemented. It includes more controls over what you want to view in your News Feed, Top Stories, and a Ticker Feed that displays real-time happenings within your friends list. As with myself and many others, I was a little bit confused initially (mainly looking for the +300 new feed option) but after this video I could see some advantages. Check it out.

Girls: Here's a really good site for buying your false eyelashes (discount codes too)

Why pay overpay for a pair of false eyelashes?  We all know M.A.C. Cosmetics sell their lashes for $10.00 CAD pair while Oleda and Shu Uemura charges $15.00 CAD per pair!  C'mon really, who has the money to pay for that?! This week we found a really good snag of a website (madamemadeline.com) that  offers a wide range of eyelash brands from Ardelle, Red Cherry, Revlon, and much more at unbelievable prices! Each set of eyelashes varies but are at below retail prices (some as low as $2!)  You can also buy in bulk where the more you buy the more you save!! MadameMadeline offers the same great quality as what you would buy from retail stores & discount codes where you can save up to 5 % on your entire order or receive free eyelashes to boot!

Web giant Google accused of trying to kill off smaller rivals like Yelp

Huffington Post:  Yelp, which has long dominated Google search results, has a new competitor that it's taking very seriously: Google itself. The prime territory at the top of Google search results that Yelp could once lay claim to is now frequently taken over by Google's own listings. A search for "Los Angeles restaurants" turns up a link to Yelp -- but it's buried halfway down the page below  Google Places , a feature that showcases business listings together with reviews, maps and prices.

50 Cent aims to fight hunger with "Street King"

50 Cent is launching his new energy shot, Street King. His goal is to provide 1 billion meals over the next five years. With every shot purchased, a meal is provided for a child in need. "I want to feed a billion kids. It's your boy, 50 Cent." is one of the many tagline he uses in his promo videos trying to get you to buy his new line of energy shots. There is a lot of speculations on the internet about his actual commitment to this cause, due to the fact that 50 Cent hasn't specified how much money will go to World Food Programme. Many believe that he is employing a feel-good marketing tactic just to build the presence of his unknown product. But although this is may be the case, 50 cent is an icon among the younger demographic - combined with his campaign - can be used to leverage for the result of awareness among the youth givers and increases in donations.

WHAT THE *@&#! A dog tied and dragged behind a car while still alive (Video) **GRAPHIC CONTENT**

The following video shows a driver in Taiwan dragging a tied up dog while it's still alive! This is fucking outrageous. The person with the video camera quickly follows and tries to alert the idiotic pet owner with series of honks from his own car. At the end of the video you'll see the dog getting back up on all fours after brutally being tossed around. ** Warning, this is Graphic Content **

50 Cent plans to roll out new headphones line

Dr. Dre  will be gearing for more competition from rappers who are getting into the headphones business, the most recent being 50 Cent. Fifty, also known as Curtis Jackson, has his own headphones company  SMS Audio , which recently acquired  KonoAudio  for an undisclosed amount. SMS Audio is set to unveil a line-up of new products in the coming weeks. That is, if the plan pushes through. You see, it already happened before, when 50 Cent inked a deal with Sleek Audio to produce and distribute a wireless hybrid headphone system called Sleek by 50. Protoypes were even showed off at CES 2011, but the deal fell apart last May. SMS Audio, part of 50’s G-Unit Brands, then picked up where it left off and plans on releasing at least three headphones. The company has yet to announce anything about its upcoming headphones, but it revealed that the line will consist of three categories: Wired, wireless, and earbuds. There are also reports that one of its products will feature a full on-board play

AT&T shows iPhone 4GS in their inventory?

ENGADGET: Judging from the clandestine screenshot you see above, it most certainly seems like that's the case. A helpful tipster sent us this tasty morsel, from AT&T's internal system, listing the "iPhone 4s White" beneath a handful of already familiar Apple handsets. Could it be? Is Cupertino actually planning on bringing a white version of its   next iPhone   out at launch? We're afraid only time will tell. Original Article from: Engadget

iMessage is one of the great new features of the upcoming iOS 5 update and now there is evidence that it may soon be integrated with OS X Lion’s iChat instant messaging software. This would enable instant messaging between iOS devices and Mac computers running OS X Lion. iMessage is an iOS 5 messaging application which includes sending messages, photos and videos over WiFi or 3G. Windows 8 on laptop in-depth preview (video)

ENGADGET: Less than 24 hours after it went live on Microsoft's site, Steve Ballmer reported a whopping 500,000 downloads of Windows 8 Developer Preview. That's half a million copies, if not eager Windows fans. Well, you can count us among them. Although we were treated to some private hands-on time with a tablet optimized for the OS, we hadn't, until now, had a chance to use it on a laptop -- i.e., the computing environment where we spend most of our time, and the one where we're most used to seeing Windows, in particular.

Plans of getting the ultra-slim Apple MacBook Air? Before you do, here's a full review

ENGADGET: There comes a time when that giant, corporate-issued laptop stops fitting into your lifestyle. When dragging around a Kensington roller case just won't do. When you start to hear the siren lilt of something thinner, lighter, and maybe a bit more alluring. For years the MacBook Air has been that svelte temptress hollering your name, but it's always been a bit too slow -- all show and no go. It didn't have the power and the longevity to make it a serious contender for your serious affections.

Um, did the iPhone 5 just get leaked by Case-Mate? (pictures)

TechCrunch And like that it’s gone. Before I could hit the publish button on this post, Case-Mate pulled the page in question and replaced it with a landing page. But for a second there, Case-Mate had what seemed to be a whole bunch of images of iPhone 5 cases loaded with a slightly different phone that looks rather iPad-ish... Pictures & More: Here

What's your take on the new Windows 8? (Pictures)

Windows 8, which was fully unveiled at the Windows Build Conference in Anaheim, California, is here, and it looks much, much different from Windows 7. Sure, it has the start-bar-and-icon "Desktop" look that Windows users are familiar with, but it also has a new, touchscreen-optimized interface called 'Metro,' which looks more like the Windows Phone operating system and which looks like the future of Microsoft Windows from here on out. The touch-optimized interface was all Stephen Sinofsky, President of Windows, and Julie Larson-Green, Corporate Vice President of Windows, were talking about when they showed off Windows 8 to developers at the conference. (They did not, however, mention when the new OS would be available to users.) Here are some screenshots of the new Windows 8 from Sinofsky and Larson-Green's presentation, along with explanations of the newest features and interfaces that users can expect on their new tablets and PCs. 20 Years old Stanford's Ernestine Fu is the youngest venture capitalist in Silicon Valley

Ernestine Fu, 20, is taking off her pants. It's 8:35 p.m., and the venture capitalist is changing back into a college sophomore in the rear seat of a borrowed white Prius. After attending two social mixers on Palo Alto's Sand Hill Road, she removes her sleek black pantsuit and heels, leaving a royalblue ruffled blouse that transforms into a short dress. "Amazing articles of clothing can really help in terms of time management," Fu says as she slips on a pair of flats before heading to meet a friend at CoHo, a Stanford University coffeehouse. Like a superhero, Fu prefers to keep quiet about her off-campus identity as an associate at San Francisco venture capital firm Alsop Louie Partners. The firm was founded in 2006 by Stewart Alsop, an early investor in TiVo ( TIVO - news - people ) and Netcentives, and Gilman Louie, who previously ran a CIA-affiliated venture fund. YouNow = Live Social Television. You decide who gets to perform.

YouNow has launched today and puts the love (or hate) between the internet performers and viewers more closely together. What's it all about? Participants go live with either a musical performance or a talk and they’re voted on in real-time. Thumbs-up votes buys the person more time, thumbs-down means they’ll soon be shoved off the stage. As the project gains more traction and further develop, YouNow could probably host things similar to American Idol where viewers can vote to keep performers on or boo them off! The company plans on releasing a mobile app in a couple of weeks where you can stream the contents and vote just like you would on the website.
