What’s new in iOS 13 for iPhone?

Apple announced that there is an upgrade to iOS 13 at the launch of the new iPhone on Sept 10, 2019. So what’s new about it?

Here are the main upgrades:

Speed improvements:

There are improvements to Face ID, which will be 30% faster says Apple and App downloads will be 50% smaller. Apple says app updates will be 60% smaller and generally apps will launch twice as fast.

Dark Mode:

One of the highly anticipated features, finally Apple is implementing Dark mode to save our eyes during night time use. There will be a dynamic dark mode “automatic” where the background will change depending on the time of day.

Reminders App:

There is a great improvement to the reminders app with it being smarter and more functional. Redesigned to be easier to use and it will remind you about things where it is most effective, like in messages where it can pop up to remind you to message Steve about pumpkins.

Messaging:

When you send or receive a text, both parties will receive each other’s name and profile picture automatically, making it easier to identify who they are speaking to.

In addition, Memoji will receive new features such as makeup making it more fun to customize and send to your friends.

Audio Sharing:

You’ll have the ability to share what you’re listening to through audio sharing! This is a pretty neat feature.

Camera and Photos:

There’s a revamp and upgrade to the camera and photos app.

With the camera app, you’ll get new lighting effects which will allow you to adjust lighting closer or further from the subject. With the Photos app, you’ll be able to rotate videos and make color adjustments easily with a few taps.

Siri:

You’ll be able to hear Siri read income messages to you and have the ability to reply to them with the use of the AirPod. Also improvements have been made to Siri to sound more natural with correct emphasis on words and smarter.

Find my App:

Apple is combining the Find my iPhone and Find my friends app. The app will even allow you to find offline devices through a secure Bluetooth connection that the device gives off. It will then securely connect to a mesh of other nearby Apple devices to locate.
