Where is the world heading for computing for consumers?

When we think about all the technologies that are coming out now, it’s quite amazing how fast and far we have come. Within the last 5 years, companies have developed in-screen finger print sensors, 3D cameras, blazing fast mobile processors that make some laptops look like a turtle in relation to computing power - all these things were only things we could have only dreamed of.

Now artificial intelligence is being heavily incorporated into products and everyone wants to make things fly. So that begs the question, where are we heading for the next 20 years?

If flying taxis and self-driving cars are going to be a thing, then what will all the people who used to drive be doing? And how will this technology shape our society as a whole?

In my imagination:

- People who used to drive will need to be re-skilled, as I imagine self-driving vehicle services will be owned by a large entity who will maintain and repair all the vehicles.
- Currency will be become more and more electronic as everyone will do major daily transaction from the phone. SE Asia is already at the forefront of electronic payment because they currently use:
  • QR Payment, direct funds transfer to merchants, messenger payment, contactless transit via NFC.
In contract, America has lagged behind in implementing credit cards with chip technology, something that is used in many countries world wide.

America does have a leg up compared to the world and that is human capital. They still hold a good ranking, but as studies have shown that is slowly slipping because of lack of investment in education in the country. (Source)

So by holding the smarts but hiring countries like China to do the leg work on creating products, this becomes a difficult situation for the wealthy nations with all the stealing of intellectual properties and trade secrets. Undoubtedly this will also create more competing competition for the original products, which can also increase the pace of technology development.

The future of technology is an interesting one and will create a whole new environment that we have not seen before. I imagine it will be something that resembles The Jetsons.

Only time will tell..

Thin and portable enough 15.6" 1080p HD display screen (1920 x 1080) Dedicated NIDIVIA 940MX 2GB video card Intel i5 - 7 series processor The low price point The Cons: Trackpad feels a little cheap, too "bouncy-clicky" Display screen seems just a little bit dim, even on full brightness setting Overall: 3.7/5 STARS A great budget laptop that packs a punch! Made for the number cruncher, the student who values the balance between portability and performance, or the everyday person who likes watching a lot of videos and playing the casual game. The Physical The Acer Aspire E15 generally feels great in the hand when it's folded and carried it around. Despite having about 2 times the thickness of a MacBook Air, Acer did a great job at keeping the weight down to be able to say it's a comforta
