Travelling with the iPad Pro 2019

Yup, it’s true. The iPad Pro is the best travelling device you can have.

I’ve been using the iPad Pro consistently as I’m travelling long term. I gave up my MacBook Pro because quite frankly it was heavy to lug around and when you're trying to meet the 7 KG (15 lbs) carry on limit of budget airlines. The MacBook Pro is about 3 lbs alone!

What’s surprising to me is that I don’t miss my MacBook Pro at all.

Let me tell you why.

Ease of use

Using a tablet as your main computing device sounds a little crazy, but depending on what you use your computer for, it might not be that crazy at all. I use my computer for normal things like, blogging, photo/video editing, watching movies, emails, planning, some excel, and browsing. To me it’s the perfect device!

The iPad Pro is powerful enough to edit and playback 4K videos in a breeze, whereas the MacBook Pro had struggled quite often with the large footages. I’ve only started to film in 4K recently and noticed this.

iPad OS has been revamped for the better (currently at Public Beta 7), because now storage management has been greatly improved. All you need to do is plug in your external device through the USB C port and most of the time it will detect in the “my files” app and you can continue to transfer files there.

Laptop like features that increases productivity

Things like being able to quickly change programs with CMD + TAB like you can on the MacBook or Windows laptop with ALT + TAB, makes working on the iPad Pro familiar. Now it easier when I need to reference something in full screen by jumping back and forth. Sure, I can do a split screen, but on an 11-inch, it can be sometimes difficult to read all the text.

Ability to draw with the Apple Pencil

There is something that sparks joy knowing that at anytime I can turn my “laptop” into a tablet and start drawing, marking up, or writing on it. The versatility of the device is what makes me happy to keep it as my main device.

I like things that can do more than one thing, just like a good Swiss knife when you go camping. Easy, compact enough to carry around, and knowing you have all the tools you need in the pack of your pocket (bag).

What can be improved on

There isn’t a device out there that is the perfect for travelling yet in my opinion, this iPad is no different.

I wish there were more ports to connect to, a head phone jack, the over all build was sturdier (yes it can bend very easily like an empty can), and expandable memory. Then it would be my perfect travel device.

My definition of the perfect travel device is one where it has it all in one package, where you’re not required to carry around extra dongles or memory cards. The true all-in-one I envision is a ninja in communicating with all your other travel necessities like a camera and allows you to work productively on it, handling any task you throw at it.

Acer Aspire E5-575G-55NW 15.6" laptop REVIEW

Overview The Pros: Great battery life (up to 10-12 hours per charge) 256 GB SSD Hard Drive (we love the silence of a solid state hard drive!) Thin and portable enough 15.6" 1080p HD display screen (1920 x 1080) Dedicated NIDIVIA 940MX 2GB video card Intel i5 - 7 series processor The low price point The Cons: Trackpad feels a little cheap, too "bouncy-clicky" Display screen seems just a little bit dim, even on full brightness setting Overall: 3.7/5 STARS A great budget laptop that packs a punch! Made for the number cruncher, the student who values the balance between portability and performance, or the everyday person who likes watching a lot of videos and playing the casual game. The Physical The Acer Aspire E15 generally feels great in the hand when it's folded and carried it around. Despite having about 2 times the thickness of a MacBook Air, Acer did a great job at keeping the weight down to be able to say it's a comforta
