Apple's iPhone Launch updates

One more thing...

11:49 iPhone will have a new notification center :)

11:40 AM: That's a wrap!

So here's the summary: the iPhone 4S is faster with it's A5 processing chip, has a better camera (8MP), an updated OS, a new 64GB capacity and Siri, an assistant that is claimed to understand your voice commands, and iMessage chat app (similar to BBM) where you can send unlimited messages to your contacts over wi-fi/3G.

11:37 AM: The iPhone 4S will come out in Black and White. Pricing: 16GB for $199, 32GB for $299, and 64GB for $399 (new capacity). Pre-orders start on Oct 7 and it will be available on Oct 14

11:31 AM: Siri will start in English, German and French -- as a beta.

11:25 AM:  You can now make calendar appointments by just talking to the iPhone. Also a demo to definite words: "Define mitosis" and Siri delivers the result again.

11:22 AM: Siri has been asked to search for restaurants, and so far the demo is working well. Siri can also read messages to you, for a hands-free use.

11:19 AM:Siri>The intelligent assistant is introduced. The promise of voice recognition has been around for years - it has actually never worked the way it was dreamed about. Apple is now demonstrating Siri. "what's the weather like today"? And Siri answers.

moments later..

The user asks Siri to set the alarm for tomorrow 6am, and Siri sets it. Ok, that's a much better demo than the weather

11:16 AM: The iPhone 4 is getting 1080p video recording, with image stabilization. Apple also say that the iPhone 4S will be good at doing Face detection, and that it will be really fast to capture and process photos.

11:11 AM: iPhone 4S: A5 processor, which is designed by Apple and it has been powering the iPad. 7X the graphics performance (vs iPhone 4). Dual-Core processor, Dual-core graphics.

11:07 AM The iPhone 4S has both CDMA and GSM > this is the "unification" of the two designs, and we think a crucial step for Apple in further cost-reducing the handset

It will be using the 14.4Mbps HSPA+ network, which basically puts it on equal footing compared to a bunch of Android phones that have supported HSPA+ for a while.

Also, the camera is also getting an update: 8 Megapixel (3264x2448), which is nice, but the Backside Illumination is the real interesting stuff: low-light performance should be much better - the iPhone photos will finally lose the noise.

11:04 AM iPhone 4S is unveiled

11:02 AM Apple wants to point out that the battery life is getting better, and he is even presenting a new antenna design

10:55 AM The new iPod touch comes out today in 7 colors for $129 (8GB) and $149 (16GB)..also getting an update. Some of it comes from the iOS update: iMessage, Game Center....

The iPod nano is getting some updates: new UI, multi-touch (how many fingers can you realy use with that one?), and an improvement of the Fitness experience.

10:49 AM: iCloud services begins Oct 12.

10:46 AM: Apple has also launched Family and Friends, a location-based check-in system in which you can find friends and etc. Another "check-in" app.

10:45 AM: In order to have iOS devices become more autonomous devices, things are moving to the cloud. iTunes, Photos, backups etc.

10:38 AM: The iPad is finally going to be PC-free and will be able to receive updates wirelessly & iOS 5 will be a free update for i4, i3gs, ipad 2, ipad, ipod touch gen3 and gen4 on OCT. 12

10:36: Safari. The mobile browser is getting an update with Reader, another news-reading feature in which the browser change the formatting of the information so that it is more adapted to a mobile use.

10:31: iMessage: a new messing service for iOS users. It's like Apple's version of Blackberry Messenger, which has been incredibly successful for RIM.

10:29 AM: 'Cards' an app that mails people cards from iPhone photos.... has just been announced.

10:22 AM: 92% of Fortune 500 is testing or deploying the iPad, says Tim Cook. "it's unheard of" he says. iPad is the "undisputed top selling tablet" in the world, he adds.

10:18 AM: Tim Cook: But now, let's move onto the crunchy stuff: phones! The iPhone has "only" 5% of market share, worldwide (if you include the dumb phones).

10:18 AM Apple has sold over 300M iPods, and 45M since last June. Although the iPod business isn't really considered to be the "future" of Apple, Tim Cook wants to say that it is doing very well. 16 Billion songs have been downloaded

10:12 AM: Mac OS news: Tim Cook says that Mac OSX Lion has been hugely successful as a digital download with 6M downloads and says that it has been doing better than Win

10:08 AM: Tim cook is on stage this year and the show begins.

Acer Aspire E5-575G-55NW 15.6" laptop REVIEW

Overview The Pros: Great battery life (up to 10-12 hours per charge) 256 GB SSD Hard Drive (we love the silence of a solid state hard drive!) Thin and portable enough 15.6" 1080p HD display screen (1920 x 1080) Dedicated NIDIVIA 940MX 2GB video card Intel i5 - 7 series processor The low price point The Cons: Trackpad feels a little cheap, too "bouncy-clicky" Display screen seems just a little bit dim, even on full brightness setting Overall: 3.7/5 STARS A great budget laptop that packs a punch! Made for the number cruncher, the student who values the balance between portability and performance, or the everyday person who likes watching a lot of videos and playing the casual game. The Physical The Acer Aspire E15 generally feels great in the hand when it's folded and carried it around. Despite having about 2 times the thickness of a MacBook Air, Acer did a great job at keeping the weight down to be able to say it's a comforta
